Fight Training Reel

I don’t hide the fact that one of my goals as an actress is to play a big action role. Sarah Connor, Ellen Ripley, Sydney Bristow and even Buffy are my on-screen heroes. I’ve been training in various forms of martial arts on and off for over 15 years, but I took it up a notch 5 years ago when I met Liam Glennon. He has been training me in a combination of Karate, Wing Chun and Boxing, and I’ve never been in better shape nor more ready to tackle that action role. So I edited together a sampling of some of the training I do. A big thanks to Mark Gantt for shooting most of it.

How does one properly capture their acting work in a demo reel that has to be under 5 mins?! For the past 3 years, I have been playing ‘June Sanders’ on GRANITE FLATS — lovely, emotional, kind but conflicted. I worked on 21 episodes! Recently, I also had the good fortune of playing a lawyer opposite Jason Lee and Brian Dennehy in Amazon Studio’s COCKED and Lara Croft in a Machinima comedy series.

But for many years, I worked on intense, gritty thriller and horror projects. My passion is scifi, I have 15 years of fight/ martial arts training and I endeavor to play the type of badass roles that Emily Blunt now plays — so I am including TWO REELS below — one with my most current TV material and one that showcases all the indie drama/ horror / badass work I’ve done in the past. Enjoy!

Editorial Shoot with CATHY BARON

A selection of shots from my editorial shoot with the unbelievably talented photographer (and actress extraordinaire) CATHY BARON. She has an amazing eye and wicked photoshop skills. Our shoot looks like there was a huge crew involved but it was just us and whatever practical lights we had. I love all the different characters we explored!

I’m thrilled to have been asked to speak on an official San Diego Comic Con panel this Sunday! I couldn’t ask for a better topic: “WHO’S THE MUSE: SCIENCE OR SCIENCE FICTION?”

If you’re attending the SDCC, make one of your last stops our panel on Sunday at 3pm in Room 32AB in the Main Convention Center. I’ll be in the company of some brilliant folks, hailing from the science, technology and entertainment realms so I have no doubt it will be an inspiring and eye opening conversation. Thanks to the Fleet Science Center  for organizing the panel and asking me to participate.

Here’s a pic from the awesome Elquest panel I was on a few years back, had so much fun. Look forward to seeing everyone! (I’ll have a few extra Scirens bracelets on me if you happen to fancy one.)
